A Year of Discovery
I've become very relaxed and comfortable in my life. Growing and becoming a better disciple of Christ has been put on the back burner and it has been for quite some time. So, consequently I have decided to complete a 365 day challenge to becoming a new and improved me. Here are the main goals I would like to accomplish this year:
1. Improved Spirituality
I would like to become more sensitive to the promptings coming from the Spirit. I want to feel the love of my Heavenly Father and Savior. I also want to stand firm in my faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and not be afraid to share what I believe or do what I know To be right. To accomplish this goal, I will pray everyday AT LEAST twice per day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. These two prayers will be offered on my knees. I will prepare for my prayer by listening to a hymn or reading the scriptures. I will also vow to read The Book of Mormon TWELVE TIMES in 2020. I want to read the entire book once a month this year. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and just like the introduction of the book states, anyone will grow closer to the Savior by abiding by its precepts. I want to do just that. I will also reach my spiritual goals by increasing my temple attendance. I will find time once a week to attend the temple and complete at least one ordinance. I will then spend time each week in the Celestial room of the Lord's house to ponder and pray. I know by doing so, I will receive new insights of ways to improve my life and the temple will give me strength to accomplish it all. I will keep the Sabbath Day holy by eliminating social media, television, School work, and anything that would distract me from growing closer to the Spirit and Christ. I will read my patriarchal blessing every Sunday and will have it completely memorized by the end of 2020. I will also complete the requirements for Come Follow Me every week so I can be prepared for each lesson. I also want to make my fasts each month more meaningful. I put spirituality as my first goal of my 365 day challenge because I believe that through Christ I can be strengthened and accomplish my other goals for this year. I will post my progress on the blog!
2. Creating Healthy Habits
This is something I have struggled with my ENTIRE life. It has always been a struggle for me to choose an apple over a Twinkie and hitting the gym has never been something I absolutely enjoy doing. This year I am determined to overcome my addiction to unhealthy eating habits. I will eliminate soda completely from my diet and replace it with good 'ol H2O. I want to do my best to drink one gallon of water each and everyday. I believe by doing this, toxins in my body will be cleansed and I will have better skin and more energy. I will count my calories EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I am going to allow myself 1200 calories per day. I believe if I plan before each day of what I will eat, I will find success in my endeavor to eat healthy. I vow to not eat fast food BY MYSELF ever. If a friend invites me to eat out, I will choose a healthier option. I will also work out 6 days per week. I have printed out workout plans so I can be prepared to have a good workout each day. I will also create a morning and evening routine to help me sleep more and help my body to adjust to this new lifestyle. In addition to making these changes to improve my life, I will track my progress by taking weekly measurements and a progress picture. I will post my progress on the blog!
3. Financial Freedom
This year I would like to be more frugal and smart with my finances. Every time I receive money, I want to budget it. I want to refrain from purchasing items that are not absolutely necessary. I want to make a big push to pay off my car and other debt. I will carry a check register and track every expense. I will build a 6 month emergency fund and contribute fast offerings each month as well as pay my tithes. I will post my progress on the blog!
4. Create Organizational Skills
I am EXTREMELY unorganized. My room is always messy and I have this awful habit of putting random stuff on my bed and consequently I am so uncomfortable when I try to sleep. I know that if I become more organized, I will be able to feel the presence of the spirit more in my life and I will be blessed. I will have my room cleaned before 2020 begins so I can mostly work on upkeep. I have a habit tracker that I use everyday to help me keep up with my goals and one of the items on my list is is "Tidy up!" So, each day I will take even just 10 minutes to clean and organize my life. I also want to be better at planning out each day. Making sure that I know when and what I will be doing before hand so no time is wasted. Even if I occasionally include time for a nap! I will post my progress on the blog!
5. Self- Discipline
This is probably my biggest challenge of all because everything I want to accomplish this year will require a whole lot of self- discipline. I am starting by setting clear goals and having an execution plan with each goal. I want to change my perception about will power and tell myself that I have it and that I can do anything I put my mind to! If you believe it you can achieve it! I will post my progress on the blog!
In addition to these goals, I will record my CD that I have been wanting to complete for sometime now and I will also finish my novel.
I am excited for 2020 to begin. I want so badly to be this new person and I am excited to prove to myself that she is in me! I've got this and with the Lord's help I will do this!!
